Someone local to call when the tech stops working.
I provide IT support for small businesses and households throughout St. Charles County: networks, computers, backups, and the everyday issues that otherwise take up an afternoon. You get a price before any work begins, and a plain-English summary afterward explaining what I found and what I changed.

What do you need a hand with?
Choose whichever is closest to your situation. You do not need to know the technical name for the problem; figuring that out is my job.
Help at home
A computer that is not performing well, unreliable wifi, a new machine to set up, or photos and files you cannot afford to lose.
Help at work
A network that was never properly designed, backups that have never been tested, staff who need secure access to files while traveling, or new hires who need their equipment set up.
Something built
A report someone currently rebuilds by hand every week, a machine specified and built properly, storage of your own, or an assistant that can answer questions about your own business data.

How the process works
A clear process from first contact to completion, with no surprise figure on the final invoice.
You describe the problem
Describe it in your own words. If I am not the right person for the job, I will tell you and point you to someone who is.
You receive a price up front
Either a flat rate from the published list, or a written estimate. No work begins until you approve it.
I do the work
Remote where that is possible, on site where it is not. Scheduled in advance for an evening or a weekend, and I arrive when scheduled.
You get it in writing
A written summary covering what I found, what I changed, what you now own, and anything worth monitoring. Plain English, not a ticket number.
What things cost
Real, published prices, so you know what to expect before you reach out.

Who you are calling
Hi, I am Evan.
Lit Little Laboratories is a one-person operation. There is no call centre, no queue, and no script. When you get in touch, I am the one who reads it, the one who turns up, and the one you can hold accountable for the outcome.
Most of what I know comes from years of hands-on work with my own equipment. I run a home lab with servers, a storage array, monitoring, and backups, which is why I understand these systems in real depth. It is also why I will not sell you a backup I have not restored in front of you, and why I would rather tell you a job is out of my depth than take it on and learn at your expense.
This business runs on evenings and weekends around a full time job, which is a real constraint, and I would rather you hear it from me now than find out later. In exchange, you get someone who is not spread across forty other clients on the day you need them.

Questions people ask
How much is this going to cost me?
Most items on the services page list a real number or a real range. Hourly work is $95 remote and $125 on site. Anything that cannot be accurately priced from a description gets a free written estimate before any payment is required, and that number does not change afterwards unless you request additional work.
When are you available?
Evenings and weekends, scheduled in advance. Because this runs alongside a full time job, I do not offer same day service or business hours appointments. If you need someone available on short notice during the day, a different provider will be a better fit, and I will tell you that directly.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. One off jobs are one off jobs. The monthly services, like looking after backups, are month to month and you can stop whenever you like.
What if you cannot fix it?
You do not pay for an unsuccessful repair attempt. If a machine needs parts or is genuinely not worth repairing, I will tell you plainly rather than continue billing hours. Diagnostic time on a machine that cannot be repaired is not charged.
Will you need my passwords, and is my stuff safe?
Sometimes, and when I do need access, I will tell you exactly which credentials and why. Anything shared with me is changed or returned at the end of the job, along with a written record of what exists and where. I do not retain copies of your data, and I do not access files outside the scope of the job.
Do you work on Macs?
For everyday support, yes. For specialised Mac hardware repair, no, and I will refer you to someone qualified rather than take on work outside my expertise.
Do you come to me, or do I bring it to you?
I come to you, or we handle it remotely over a screen share, whichever suits the job. There is no physical location to drop equipment off at.
Are you insured?
Lit Little Laboratories LLC is a registered Missouri company. Business insurance is being arranged ahead of any work that touches company servers or customer data, and I will explain exactly what is and is not covered before that kind of job starts.

Describe your issue in your own words. You will get a clear answer about whether I can help, what the work involves, and what it costs, before you spend anything.
